So if I’m understanding this correctly, if I bought a Tesla from a private seller I could not get his warranty?

I find it nuts to even consider buying a Tesla from a private owner...

Depends on your area. Here in SV there are 28 Used Teslas for sale, most from non-tesla dealers or ind. owners. Starting at $46,000 to $80,000 - but now I guess the buyers must buy a new warranty from Tesla.
